The theme for the Second Dr. Somsak Sukwong Public Lecture is "Community Forestry, Livelihoods, and Conservation in Changing Landscapes." Leading international experts will discuss Community Forestry within the context of emerging landscape approaches on the International Day of Forests, March 21, 2013 at Kasetsart University Main Library from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

GREEN Mekong and the LEAF program, both funded by the USAID are jointly organizing a civil society consultation on “Improving Equity in national REDD+ planning: perspectives from Thailand’s civil society.” The one day consultation kicks off the first of a series of civil society consultations into REDD+ development in the Lower Mekong region. The event is designed to strengthen understanding and consolidate viewpoints of Thailand civil society which may serve as inputs to the review and finalization of the Thai Readiness-Preparation Proposal (R-PP). The proposal will be presented to the World Bank's Forest Carbon Facility Partnership for approval at the end of March.
