Meeting at RECOFTC Advances FSC's Forest Carbon Work

 

The FSC Forest Carbon Working Group met for three days at RECOFTC in late January to discuss the role of FSC in the field of forests and climate change. The group concluded that the maintenance and restoration of forest carbon stocks is an intrinsic element of responsible forest management, and called for active monitoring of forest carbon.

‘Hopenhagen’: A REDD-net Overview

 

Thousands came together at December’s ‘Hopenhagen’ for what was the most covered and talked about of any UNFCCC COP meeting to date. REDD+ was one of few issues on which progress was made though the implications of the wider negotiations for REDD-plus are not yet clear. This REDD-net brief considers the outcomes from the negotiations, focusing on the status of REDD+ and the implications for local and indigenous people.
