RECOFTC Signs MoU with the Forestry Administration of the Kingdom of Cambodia

RECOFTC is pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the Forestry Administration of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of the Kingdom of Cambodia on 7 July 2012. This agreement will allow for increased and improved cooperation between the two parties in their efforts to advance community forestry in the Kingdom of Cambodia, as well as in neighboring countries. Specifically, the MoU promotes development of policy, capacity building at all levels of government, research and sharing of best practices to improve the lives of forest communities.

In partnership with the Forestry Administration since mid-2010, RECOFTC has seen nearly 200,000 hectares of forest put into the hands of 60,000 families from 450 villages. It has directly supported more than half of the country’s community forestry sites, and more than half of those with legal agreements, through training, facilitating partnerships, and more.
