Session 2: The power of effective communication

“The power of effective communication” opens a dialogue on the common misconceptions of forests and forestry in the Asia-Pacific region, focusing on narratives that discriminate against local communities and their role in mitigating the effects of climate change.

If these misconceptions are to be overcome and the underlying narratives reversed, effective communication is important. Participants will hear from leading experts on how important issues and authentic messages about people and forests can be heard by those in positions to make changes, especially governments.  

Participants will share experiences and cases related to effective communication and the specific strategies, approaches and partners needed to achieve it. Additionally, participants will share stories of effective communication strategies and tools that have inspired and influenced the way people think, believe and act.
