RECOFTC has been building the foundations and capacity for community forestry in Indonesia since 1998. It signed a Memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Environment and Forestry in 2005 to guide collaboration to strengthen the capacity of implementing sustainable forest management programs and the development of community-based forest management initiatives and strategies in Indonesia.
The partners renewed their agreement in November 2020. RECOFTC Indonesia works closely with the Agency for Extension and Human Resources Development (BPPSDM), particularly in collaboration with the Forestry Education and Training Center (Pusdiklat), and the Forestry Education and Training Center (BDK). RECOFTC Indonesia also works with many national civil society, private sector and community partners to increase the success of Indonesia’s Forest Management Units through social forestry.
