Supporting Indigenous Peoples and local communities in Lao PDR and Viet Nam to advance their rights through jurisdictional forest carbon initiatives
This project, funded by Re:wild, aims to enhance the engagement and recognition of Indigenous Peoples and local communities in Southeast Asian jurisdictional REDD+ initiatives, focusing on Lao PDR and Viet Nam. It addresses unique regional challenges, including limited legal recognition of Indigenous rights, small-scale land holdings and linguistic diversity.
Key activities include supporting information-sharing and consultations for jurisdictional REDD+ initiatives, such as those under the Forest Carbon Partnership Facility. The project complements ongoing capacity-building efforts, targeting Indigenous Peoples and local communities.
