RECOFTC and Indonesia’s Ministry of Forestry have renewed our memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation on sustainable forest management and social forestry.
The signing was witnessed by Country Director of RECOFTC Indonesia, Gamma Galudra; Senior Advisor to the Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia on Climate Change and International Conventions, Dr Nur Masripatin and Secretary-General of the Ministry of Forestry, Dr Ir Mahfudz, MP.
The agreement builds on RECOFTC’s work with Indonesian government agencies on social forestry, sustainable forest management and capacity development.
Our previous activities have included training on gender mainstreaming and the economic value of carbon, support for youth networks in social forestry, and assistance to community-based coffee cooperatives. We have also supported research on forest governance and explored opportunities for agroforestry, forest carbon and restoration initiatives.
The MoU renewal comes as RECOFTC seeks to expand our cooperation. “Our partnership, established in 2012, should be extended beyond training and capacity building to include implementation and the development of social forestry policies,” said Galudra.
