RECOFTC Viet Nam organized a national training workshop for Explore researchers in Hue city, Viet Nam from 25–27 August 2025. The workshop, ‘Project management for better research outcomes’, brought together 23 participants, including 11 women, from Vinh University, Thai Nguyen University and Hue University. All three universities are part of Explore’s multi-country research teams on forest landscape governance in Southeast Asia.
The training built on earlier online regional training workshop and was delivered in Vietnamese. It was adapted to the specific needs of research teams based in Viet Nam. The training addressed capacity gaps identified through Explore’s capacity development needs assessment. It aimed to enhance participants’ skills in planning, implementing and monitoring research projects, covering project lifecycle management, stakeholder engagement, risk assessment, budgeting, and monitoring, evaluation and learning frameworks.
On the final day, participants visited Bach Ma National Park, part of Hue University’s study site, to observe practical forest management and community engagement. Participants also visited Hue University to observe the research team’s operations, linking training with practical field experience.
The workshop is part of Explore’s larger capacity building initiative to strengthen research teams’ ability to deliver high-quality, policy-relevant research supporting the programme’s mission of promoting inclusive and sustainable forest landscape governance across Southeast Asia.
