This project was a continuation of a successful forestry research initiative in Nepal, funded by the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research. It focused on enhancing forest management practices in community forests and private lands within the Sacred Himalayan Landscape, specifically in the Kavrepalanchok and Sindhupalchok districts. 

The project aimed to improve livelihoods, social equity and environmental outcomes through sustainable forest management. Key objectives included developing forest-based enterprises to stimulate economic growth, enhancing community-level forest governance and conducting assessments of community and private forestry practices within selected local government areas. 

The silviculture team led field data collection efforts, contributing to a comprehensive understanding of forest management practices and their impacts on local communities. This research-driven approach supported Nepal's "forests for prosperity" policy by addressing gender equity issues in decision-making and benefit-sharing, while strengthening the country's community forestry sector.
