This project aims to enhance the institutional capacity of the Department of Forest Inspection (DoFI) and provincial and district forestry inspection offices in Lao PDR. It will develop and implement a comprehensive training programme focusing on forest investigation, interrogation and inspection skills. A Training of Trainers system will be established to build in-house expertise within DoFI, complemented by a database to track trainers and trainees for informed programme planning.

The project will facilitate cross-learning opportunities domestically and internationally. Additionally, it will support legislation development and community engagement initiatives. Collaboration with the Faculty of Forest Science at the National University of Laos will focus on wood identification. The project is being piloted in Champasack Province.
