This UN-REDD Programme initiative aims to support climate change mitigation through social forestry actions in ASEAN countries. The project focuses on strengthening the evidence base for social forestry's role in climate change mitigation, integrating it into countries' Nationally Determined Contributions and enhancing climate finance opportunities for social forestry.

Collaborating with the ASEAN Secretariat, relevant ASEAN Working Groups and national governments, the project reviews social forestry management plans in Cambodia, Indonesia and Lao PDR. It also helps communities obtain and benefit from tenure, integrates social forestry into National Forest Monitoring Systems and attracts investment for various social forestry modalities.
