SILC: Strengthening engagement of Indigenous Peoples and local communities in jurisdictional REDD+

The SILC or Strengthening engagement of Indigenous Peoples and local communities in jurisdictional REDD+ project helps ensure that Indigenous Peoples and local communities, the traditional stewards of Nepal’s forests, are central to the design and implementation of the Lowering Emissions by Accelerating Forest Finance (LEAF) programme. Operating across Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces, SILC builds community capacity to shape benefit-sharing plans and access climate finance. Through inclusive consultations and pilots, the project is laying foundations for sustained engagement from Indigenous Peoples and local communities.
