Sustaining Cambodia’s forests: What motivates community participation in forest management?

This knowledge brief examines why community members continue to participate in forest protection despite growing pressures and limited financial support. The study finds that local motivations for participation are diverse, but that low participation is driven less by attitudes and more by practical barriers such as limited awareness, opportunity costs and unequal governance structures.
