Ivy Wong appointed chair of RECOFTC Board of Trustees

Ivy Wong has been appointed chair of RECOFTC’s Board of Trustees, bringing more than 30 years of experience in forestry, biodiversity conservation, environmental policy, climate change and sustainability to the role.

Wong is currently Chief Executive Officer for Malaysia at Permian Global. Her previous roles include Head of the Environment Impact Area at Yayasan Hasanah, Vice President of Environment at the Iskandar Regional Development Authority, and Programme Coordinator for the Heart of Borneo and Head of the Forestry Programme at WWF-Malaysia.

Her career has spanned conservation organizations, government, philanthropy and the private sector. She currently serves on the Board of Trustees of Reef Check Malaysia and is a member of the UKM-YSD Sustainability Chair Advisory Committee.

Wong succeeds Nur Masripatin, PhD, Senior Advisor to the Indonesian Minister of Environment and Forestry on Climate Change and International Conventions, who served as Chair of RECOFTC’s Board of Trustees since 2020. During her tenure, Masripatin led by example, demonstrating how social forestry can contribute to livelihoods, a green economy and the Sustainable Development Goals.
