The project aims to strengthen outreach, consultation and awareness-raising on the LEAF Emission Reduction Programme to build a shared understanding of REDD+ concepts, safeguards and benefit-sharing mechanisms among rights-holders and stakeholders at the local level in Nepal.
This project builds a shared understanding of REDD+ and Jurisdictional REDD+ concepts, their institutional structures and the roles and responsibilities of rights-holders and stakeholders. The initiative creates a platform for discussion and collaborative learning, ensuring that participants at 'gaunpalika' (rural municipality) and 'nagarpalika' (municipality) levels are well informed about the LEAF programme’s objectives and mechanisms.
The project also sensitizes stakeholders and rights-holders on the integrity and safeguard measures of the LEAF Programme, covering key components such as the LEAF Benefit Sharing Plan, safeguards and the Grievance Redress Mechanism. Consultation and awareness events also gather participant feedback, ensuring that local perspectives inform the design and implementation of the LEAF Emission Reduction Programme.
