The first meeting of the Explore National Advisory Committee (NAC)–Viet Nam will bring together members of the NAC–Viet Nam, the Explore Secretariat, RECOFTC Viet Nam, and principal investigators (PIs) and co-PIs from Explore-supported research teams in Viet Nam.
Explore, funded by the Government of Sweden, is hosted by RECOFTC, in partnership with CIFOR-ICRAF. We collaborate with universities, research institutes, governments, civil society organizations, local communities and the private sector in Southeast Asia.
Our NACs play a vital role in guiding us and our research teams in conducting high-quality, participatory and gender-inclusive research – influencing policy and decision-making at the landscape and national levels. Explore NACs aim to strengthen connections amongst the Explore research network and key stakeholders in forest landscape governance and national government ministries, research institutes, NGOs and the private sector.
Explore NAC–Viet Nam members include government representatives from the Department of Forestry Production and the Department of Forest Protection under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. We also have academic representative from the Vietnamese Academy of Forest Sciences and a private sector representative from the Mekong Capital as members.
Explore has a recently established NAC in Indonesia and is in the process of establishing NACs in Lao PDR and the Philippines. The Explore NACs in all four countries will support research uptake into policy at the national level.
Objectives
- Introduce NAC members and provide insights on aligning research with national policy agendas
- Present ongoing research projects (by Explore grant recipients)
- Facilitate discussions and feedback to strengthen linkages between research and policy
- Develop a shared understanding and expectations of roles and contributions of NAC members, Explore researchers and the Explore Secretariat.

Explore is a research network and community of practice dedicated to expanding and applying knowledge on forest landscape governance in Southeast Asia. It is the only research network in the world focused on forest landscape governance.
