FLOURISH is a four-year forest landscape restoration (FLR) initiative that combines market forces with community forestry to address climate change, restore degraded forests and enhance the well-being of forest communities. Funded by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Energy (BMU) through the International Climate Initiative (IKI), FLOURISH aims to create sustainable solutions for forest restoration.

Pilots are being implemented across four landscapes in three Mekong countries: Lao PDR, Thailand, and Viet Nam. Insights gained from these sites will contribute to advancing FLR practices in the Asia-Pacific region and globally.

Unlike many other FLR initiatives, FLOURISH leverages market forces to restore forest landscapes. It establishes commercial business partnerships between forest communities and companies to plant production forests, create sustainable products and access markets. This approach ensures that communities have a vested interest in restoring and sustainably managing their forest landscapes.
