Working towards impact: Our vision, our approach

In a time of climate crisis, environmental degradation and rising inequality, communities that live in and around forests are on the frontlines.

RECOFTC’s vision is clear: resilient communities that sustainably and equitably manage forest landscapes in collaboration with other stakeholders.

Our four interconnected goals – enhanced climate change adaptation and mitigation, improved gender equality and social inclusion, improved governance and respect for rights and increased economic benefits for communities – all work towards this vision.

In our Strategic Plan 2023–2028, we have six priority strategies and tactics driving our work. This report is organized around these strategies.

Each chapter captures how we are:

  • ensuring that forest landscapes provide climate solutions
  • securing rights and inclusive governance
  • supporting the growth of forest landscape-related businesses
  • securing finance for sustainable forest landscapes
  • generating evidence for influence
  • engaging the public on forest landscape issues

Together, they present our efforts on the ground to ensure sustainable forest landscape management.

The stories collected here reflect how meaningful, lasting change starts with communities and is built on collaboration, evidence and inclusive action. They highlight the results of our collective efforts, made possible through the commitment of our partners, supporters and the communities we serve.
